We already know that the Panasonic is going to release a mid-range smartphone, called P81 this month. Although the company had issued video as well as image teasers earlier this month, but it was the specifications of the device that we missed in both teasers.
Now the folks at the NDTV Gadgets claim that they have got their hands-on the specifications and the first press render of this upcoming smartphone. According to them, the Panasonic P81 will sport 5.5-inch 720p HD display, dual-SIM connectivty, and will be powered by an octa-core processor completed with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage with 32GB microSD support.
They also add that it will pack 13MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and 2500 mAh battery for power supply to the phone. The phone will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS with Panasonic’s own Play Life UI on top.
Set to be announced on 20th May, the phone will be officially carry a price tag of 19,990, but it will be available for a best buy price of 18,990 in the country, adds NDTV Gadgets report.
Panasonic via teasers has revealed that the P81 will come with metal and leatherette finish, optional coloured back panels support and smart app-switch feature.
However, if Zauba.com, which keeps record of import and export data in India is to be believed, it looks like Panasonic P81 packs 5-inch display, not 5.5-inch as claimed by NDTV Gadgets. The Zauba listing indicates that Panasonic has already imported about 2,400 units of P81 at a rate of 9,690 per piece in India. Including taxes, customs and all the profit margin, it will likely be available for a price of around 15-16K in the country.
