After several leaks and rumours, LG has finally announced the launch of its latest flagship LG G3 at a press event held in New York, London and San Francisco simultaneously yesterday. Featuring a Quad-HD display of 5.5-inch, the LG G3 is probably the most talked smartphone of this quarter, and also this is the first Android running smartphone which supports laser auto-focus, which the company claims, will help the camera sensor in focusing faster and allow the users to click images instantly.
Running on latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the LG G3 packs 2GB RAM, 16/32GB of ROM and a powerful quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz for trouble free multitasking. According to the company, the phone will be also released with 3GB of RAM in some markets. As you can see most of the specifications are in line with whatever we reported earlier.
Among the other features, it has 2.1MP front camera and 13MP rear camera with OIS+ technology, and a long lasting 3,000 mAh battery All these features are nicely packed in an 8.9mm thick chassis, which is made of plastic with metal finish.
On the software front, the LG G3 comes pre-loaded with a host of tweaks including the company’s Knock Code unlock mechanism, the new Smart Notice service, which works like Google Now and provides suggestions and recommendations based on user behaviour, phone usage patterns and location. Other software tweaks include Smart Keyboard, Smart Security, Content Lock, Kill Switch (remotely disable your phone), and Guest Mode.
With these high-end features, the phone will be competing with the likes of flagship Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One (M8) and Sony Xperia Z2.
The company hasn’t announced the pricing of the LG G3 yet, but it revealed that the phone will be available first in South Korea beginning May 28 in Metallic Black, Silk White, Shine Gold, Moon Violet, and Burgundy Red colour option, and then it will go on sale via more than 170 carriers all around the globe.
