Spice has introduced its latest budget dual-SIM smartphone under Stellar line up in the Indian market today. The smartphone which is dubbed as Spice Stellar 509, is officially priced at 7,999, and will be available beginning today from e-retailer HomeShop18 in the country.
For this pricing, Spice is offering 5-inch FWVGA (854x480p) display, a quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage with microSD card slot. All these specs seem decent, but it’s quite disappointing to see Spice still launching outdated Android 4.2 Powered smartphones in the markets. Its native rivals like Micromax and Lava have now started offering latest Android KitKat running smartphones in this price bracket, and we’re hoping that Spice will also soon come ahead with its first Android KitKat smartphone in coming days.
Furthermore, it supports dual-SIM connectivity, and houses 2MP front camera, 8MP rear camera with LED flash. For connectivity, it has 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.
“Spice is delighted to offer yet another champion product exclusively to the customers of HomeShop18. Stellar 509 is a true combination of performance and style ensuring a super smooth experience for the users. At Spice, we strive for excellence and this product is an example of our belief in constant innovation,” said T M Ramakrishnan, CEO – Devices, Spice Retail Ltd.
At this pricing, the Spice Stella 509 will be competing with the likes of Micromax Canvas Engage A091, Lava Iris X1, and Micromax Unite 2 A106 which have been just announced in the Indian market this week .
