Panasonic India has today announced the launch of rumoured P81 smartphone in the country at a press event held in Gurgaon. According to the company, the Panasonic P81 which features 5.5-inch 720p HD display, will hit the shelves in the country beginning third week of May for INR Rs.18,990.

In addition to the HD display, the Panasonic P81 packs an octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz, 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal memory, 2500 mAh battery, and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Among the other specifications, it has dual-SIM support, 13MP rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash as well as a 2MP front shooter, 32GB expandable memory support and usual connectivity options.

“With the launch of the Panasonic P81, we have reached yet another milestone as this is the first model of the “P” series featured with octa-core processor. The introduction of this model reiterates our commitment to keep innovating as we believe that it is a direct result of the consumers’ needs, and customer centricity has to be at the core of developing products for the Indian consumer,” said Manish Sharma, Managing Director, Panasonic India.

Preloaded with several software tweaks like device cleaner, dual window support, Pop-i Player and gesture support, the phone will be available in only Black colour option. According to Panasonic, the phone will be offered with freebies worth INR Rs.9,900 including 6 month Evernote premium worth INR Rs.1,800, free download from Hungama for a month, India Today content, and offers from Hot-n-Trendy Space. It also comes bundled with accessories such as flip cover and screen guard worth INR Rs.2,000.
