Sony India is scheduled to held a press event in the country on 8th May, where it’s set to announce the launch the flagship Xperia Z2 in the Indian market. The company has already sent out the press invites for the event to the tech communities, reports The Economics Times.
Sony Xperia Z2, the sucessor of existing Xperia Z smartphone, was actually showcased at MWC exhibition earlier this year. Featuring 5.2-inch full HD display, and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3GHz, the water and dust-resistant Xperia Z2 runs on latest Android 4.4 KitKat mobile operating system. The phone includes 3GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage, microSD card slot and 3200 mAh battery in addition to usual connectivity features like Wi-Fi, 3G, NFC and Bluetooth.
On the camera front, it boasts a 2.2MP front camera, and 20.7MP rear camera with LED flash. The primary camera in the device is capable of recording 4K videos.
The actual pricing of the Xperia Z2 for the Indian market is not clear yet, but considering the e-retailer Amazon UK which is taking pre-order for the device for 544.87 Pound Sterling, the phone is expected to be priced around 56,000 in India. But the rumours are sparked that the Sony has planned to price it around 50,000 in order to compete with Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 and other flagships currently retailing in the country.
