We have been hearing about the Samsung’s intention to launch its own Tizen OS powered smartphone since long time. The company had intended to introduce the alleged smartphones last year, but later delayed the launch of such devices for 2014, however it introduced the Tizen powered Gear line-up of wearable earlier this year at MWC exhibition in Barcelona.
Now, look likes we would soon hear the announcement of first Tizen-based smartphone also in couple of months as Hankil Yoon, Samsung senior VP for product strategy, has confirmed that the company has set its eyes to launch Tizen-based smartphone second quarter this year.
Talking to Reuters, Hankil Yoon said that the first Tizen smartphone would be high-end and the second one would be a mid-range smartphone. The executive also revealed that Samsung would launch the next-generation of the Galaxy Note with a new form factor.
Even though the official has not revealed any Tizen-based smartphone, but to be announced Samsung ZEQ 9000 is being considered as the Samsung’s first Tizen-based smartphone. The press render leaked earlier this year indicates that the phone will sport plastic build and a hardware home button. Earlier rumoured to be announced at MWC, the alleged smartphone is rumoured to feature 4.8-inch (1280×720 pixels) HD display, Tizen 2.2 or later, and said to pack 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.
