MediaTek had showcased its recently announced octa-core chipset–MT6595 at the China Electronic Information Expo.

According to the MediaTek, the new MT 6595 is based on big.LITTLE architecture and comes with integrated LTE support, and it can handle TD-LTE/FDD-LTE/WCDMA/TD-SCDMA/GSM networks without any hassle.

The MediaTek MT6595 chipset comprises of four Cortex A17 cores firing at 2.2 GHz and four Cortex A7 cores at 1.7 GHz. The graphics processing unit in charge is the PowerVR G6200 that is capable of handling 4K2K video playback and recording. The chip also has the ability to support 20 megapixel camera.

The inbuilt modem that comes with the MT6595 is probably the most interesting bit of this chip. According to the company, the silicon can handle


MediaTek’s new 32-bit processor is expected to give Qualcomm and other chipset manufacturers a fair competition. The first set of the smartphones with MT6595 is expected to be launched very soon.
