AUO, popular for its display solutions has unveiled a range of displays for smartphones. The smartphone displays include a 5.7-inch WQHD (2560×1440 pixels) AMOLED panel, 5-inch 720p in-cell touch AMOLED panel and a 6-inch WQHD (2560×1440) panel for smartphones. It has also unveiled a AMOLED panel for smartwatches.
The 5.7-inch WQHD AMOLED panel for smartphone with a pixel resolution of 2560×1440 and 513 ppi pixel density would offer brilliant images that are extremely crisp and full of details, says the company. JDI recently unveiled a 5.4-inch WQHD (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) display at 543 ppi for smartphones that is used on the Oppo Find 7. Even LG unveiled a 5.5-inch Quad HD LCD panel for smartphone back in August last year, but this is the first AMOLED display with WQHD resolution. Samsung would come up with a 560ppi Super AMOLED display this year.
The 5-inch HD in-cell touch AMOLED panel is just 0.57mm thick and has a special driver design to enable 10 point touch. The 1.6-inch wearable AMOLED panel for smartwatches would be slim, offer high contrast and include power-saving features. The 5.2 to 6.5-inch high resolution displays have AHVA technology and LTPS (Low Temperature Poly-silicon) process technology.
AUO would showcase these display panels at the China Optoelectronics Display Expo 2014 (CITE & CODE 2014) in Shenzhen from April 10th to 12th. It would also show-off 7, 8 and 10.1-inch panels for tablets with WUXGA (1920×1200 pixels) resolution.
