The recently leaked Moto G Forte smartphone is official, however it is not the rugged variant of Moto G that everyone was expecting but just a normal Moto G with Grip Shell pre-fitted. To remind you, Moto G Grip Shells have been available since the launch of Moto G and can be purchased by anyone, so Moto G Forte is just a marketing gimmick.
The Moto G Forte is now on sale in Mexico by telecom operator Nextel. There is no word on whether it will be released in any other markets, not that it is needed.
Moto G or Moto G Forte features a 4.5-inch 720p HD display, 1GB of RAM, Android 4.4, 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and 5MP rear camera. The phone also packs 1.3MP front camera, 8/ 16GB of internal storage and 2070 mAh battery.
In related news, research firm Kantar Worldpanel ComTech has revealed that the success of Moto G in UK has pushed the Motorola’s market share to 6 percent from virtually nothing.
“Motorola was nowhere in Europe before the Moto G launched in November last year, but the new model has since boosted the manufacturer to six per cent of British sales,” said Dominic Sunnebo, strategic insight director at Kantar Worldpanel ComTec.
