As scheduled, Samsung India has today announced the launch of it latest awaited flagship Galaxy S5 at an event held in New Delhi. The exact pricing for the device is not clear at the moment, but the company hinted that the phone will come in a price range between 51,000 and 53,000, and the phone will hit the shelves at the Indian retail stores starting 11th April. The phone will be available in several colour options including Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Copper Gold. The company has also revealed that it will be starting taking the pre-orders for the phone from 29th March.
Featuring a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED full HD display, the Galaxy S5 comes with 2GB of RAM, 16MP rear camera, 2800 mAh battery and Android 4.4. The Galaxy S5 variant being released in India is powered by 1.9GHz Exynos octa-core processor unlike the European or North American Galaxy S5 variants, which packs 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. Samsung has also included a fingerprint scanner and heart-rate monitor on the smartphone.
On the software front, Samsung has tweaked its Touchwiz UX quite a bit in Galaxy S5. The phone runs on a toned-down version of the UX and includes features like Ultra Power Saving Mode, Super Dimming, Adaptive Display, Private Mode, Kids Mode, and Knox security. Samsung has also pre-loaded S-Health, Google apps and other Samsung applications on the phone.
In addition to the device announcements, Samsung India today revealed that has sold over 35,000,000 Galaxy devices in the country till now. This number includes all Galaxy smartphones and tablets from the company, which is pretty much the entire Android line-up of the manufacturer.
