Sony has introduced its new Xperia Z2 smartphone and Xperia Z2 Tablet at a Mobile World Congress press event today in Barcelona. Both Xperia Z2 and Z2 tablet will be released globally beginning March 2014.
Starting with the new Sony flagship Xperia Z2, the phone features a 5.2-inch full HD Triluminos display, Android 4.4, new 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM and 3200 mAH battery.
On the imaging front, 20.7MP rear camera is present on the Z2 but unlike the Z1, Z2 can record 4K videos and 120fps videos in slow motion.
As you can see, the phone is an upgraded version of Z1 in almost all departments.
“With Xperia Z2 we have taken our premium Z series to the next level, delivering unique experiences that only Sony can offer. We have redefined the smartphone once again through our camera. Xperia Z2 offers an innovative experience that captures memories in stunning detail through 4K video shooting, or offers new ways to use the camera with our unique Xperia camera apps,” said Kunimasa Suzuki, President and CEO, Sony Mobile Communications.
Coming to the tablet, it also packs the Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, Android 4.4, and 3GB of RAM. Other specifications include 10.1-inch 1920x1200p display, 8.1MP rear camera and 2.2MP front camera.
With just 6.4mm thickness and 426grams weight, it is, as per Sony’s claims, the thinnest and lightest waterproof tablet.
“The Xperia Z2 Tablet represents the pinnacle of tablet innovation and is a true flagship in our premium line. We have evolved our cutting-edge design to create the slimmest lightweight tablet matched with Sony’s latest technologies to deliver a unique user experience. And with our new range of dedicated accessories, you can further now enhance your tablet experience whether for work or play, at home or on the go.” said Kunimasa Suzuki, President and CEO, Sony Mobile Communications
