Following MTNL, which launched free roaming service in Mumbai and Delhi, the other ailing state-run telecom operator BSNL has also announced similar plan for Rajasthan. The company has started offering free roaming service starting from Rajasthan, but unlike MTNL, BSNL’s this service is not free at all. Prepaid customers have to purchase special tariff vouchers (STVs) to avail free incoming calls while roaming across the country. These packs come under One Nation:One number:One rupee and starts at 5.
Under the plan, BSNL has introduced three kinds of STV vouchers of 5, 92 and 67 in the state. The STV 92 offers unlimited free incoming calls and has 90 days validity. BSNL has also launched STV 5 and STV 67 in the state, which comes with a validity of 1 day and 30 days, respectively. With these packs, you can make outgoing call (local and STD) at a cheaper rate 1.50 paise per second while roaming.
There is no word on the launch of this service in other regions, but we hope BSNL will start rolling out this kind of free roaming service in other parts of the country soon.
