Acer Liquid Z5, the budget dual-SIM Android smartphone which was announced early January this year for European markets, is now officially announced in Taiwan. The company has not revealed the launch plans of Liquid Z5 for other markets, but hopes to see the phone in selected Asian markets excluding India too.
On the specs front, the Acer Liquid Z5 features 5-inch FWVGA display and operates on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. It is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6572 dual-core processor and packs 512MB of RAM, 4GB internal memory as well as microSD card slot for expanding memory storage space up to 32GB.
This dual SIM (GSM+GSM) budget smartphone also has 5MP rear camera with 5 elements f2.4 lens and LED flash, 2000 mAh battery, 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera and usual connectivity options including 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 + EDR and GPS.
According to the company, the phone would be sold by telecom operator Chunghwa Telecom at NT$6,990 (US$231) in coming days.
The Acer Liquid Z5 is the fifth Liquid series smartphone from Acer to run on a MediaTek chip, which is also used in Acer Liquid E1, E2, Z3 and S1 smartphones. The company hopes to continue this partnership with MediaTek over the coming months as it prepares to launch 4G smartphones in the Taiwan.
