At the end of the last week of December, 2013, we reported about HP’s intention to launch affordable big display smartphones, and now we’re hearing that the company is all set to launch at least one such smartphone this week in India.

The tech blog 9To5Google reports that, with the introduction of such devices, HP is planning to target emerging markets like India where the sales of affordable smartphones are booming. It further adds that the phone is expected to carry a price tag of around $200, and will sport display size greater than 5-inch (most probably Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in size). The alleged device is said to feature comparably inferior specifications, similar to Samsung’s rumoured upcoming Galaxy Note 3 Neo.

The folks at 9To5Google however didn’t confirmed the exact name of this upcoming device, but has pointed towards HP Slate 6 VoiceTab , which was appeared on Bluetooth SIG website and also has also been spotted in GFXBench database earlier this month. According to the GFXBench database listing, it packs Marvell’s PXA1088 quad-core SoC, Android 4.2.2, 720p HD display and on-screen buttons.

No other details are available at this point but HP seems to have started importing Slate 6 units to India as per import data from Zauba. If 9To5Google’s sources are right, Slate 6 could indeed be the HP Android smartphone that will launched in India as early as this week.
