Pen Drive

I have personally observed this problem many times after connecting my 8GB pen drive to my PC. Sometimes this problem goes solved just by re-inserting the drive in my computer, but majority of the times the pen drive shows empty even it consists a lot of data and files. When I scans my pen drive by installed anti-virus program (ESET NOD32 ANTIVIRUS5), the scan result shows the files scanned, but still the pen drive shows no files and folders. I think most of you have also encountered this problem, but now I have found the fix for this.

1.First method: Check if the files are not hidden. If hidden, then open any folder and make them visible by navigating Tools>>Folder Options>>View and the click on Show hidden files and folder radio button, and then click on OK. Then check the content of your pen drive.

If this is not the case, then follow the second method:

Second Method:

  • Navigate to Start>>Run and type cmd and press Enter.
    Run in XP

    Run in XP

  • Command Prompt will open. In the command prompt, execute the following command:
    attrib -h -r -s /s /d i:\*.*

where i is you pen drive letter.

you are done. Now check your pen drive’s contents. I think all your files and folders must be visible now.
