The South Korean tech giant LG has introduced its 2nd new smart mobile printer in the form of Pocket Photo 2 (PD239)on Monday. Being considering as the successor of its first mobile photo printer PD233, which was launched back in August this year, this new LG mobile printer is not only compatible with Android and iOS OS powered devices, but it also supports printing initiated by Windows Phone 8 running smartphones via Bluetooth or NFC (Near Field Communication).
According to the company, LG Pocket Photo 2 PD239 mobile printer is just 20mm thick, but it’s capable of printing up to 30 sheets or prints with a single charge. The printer can print images at a resolution of 600 dpi (dots per inch), better than the first printer that is capable of printing images at 313 dpi.
In addition, the printer comes preloaded with a dedicated app as well as an option to print QR code or messages in images, adding filters, effects, frames and lots more. It uses a non-ink-based technology that uses a separate ink photo paper, similar to the first pocket printer.
The company has not revealed the pricing yet, but it will surely carry a hefty price tag like its predecessor. The printer will be available in Pink, White and Yellow colors, and will hit the shelves is Korea first in mid-January 2014, and the global roll out would follow soon after. As CES 2014 exhibition is now just around the corner, we might see company showcasing the printer at the event.
