The Chinese tech giant ZTE has revealed that it has got a record 2.5 million pre-orders for the new Z5S and Z5S mini smartphones from its premium smartphone brand Nubia. These orders have been placed on JD.com, which was the only retailer reportedly taking pre-orders for these smartphones. Both phones are currently beaind sold in China only for RMB 1,999, and RMB 1,499 respectively.
“The favorable market response to Z5S and Z5S mini surpassed a sales record previously set by Xiaomi, and affirms the strong potential of nubia’s online-based sales and marketing model. The two new smartphones were designed using consumer feedback garnered by Nubia and JD.com in a C2B (consumer to business) approach to deliver a customer-defined user experience,” ZTE noted in a press release.
Originally announced last month in China, ZTE Nubia is a high-end premium smartphone that comes with the enticing features including 5-inch 1080p LCD display, 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 5MP front camera, 13MP rear camera, and 2300mAh battery and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
On the other hand, the ZTE Nubia Z5S Mini come packed with 4.7-inch 720p IGZO display, 1.7GHz Snapdragon 600 processor, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. It includes 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, microSD expansion, 2000mAh battery.
There is still no word if the company is planning to launch them outside China.
