Several reports originating from South Korea suggest that LG’s to be announced Odin processor will come in both quad-core and octa core variants, however the expected launch plan is still unclear at this point.
According to the report, while the quad-core variant of Odin chipset will support ARM Mali-T604 GPU, the octa-core variant will come packed with ARM’s latest Mali-T760 GPU. The other detail features of this upcoming chipset is not known at the moment, but the chipset is said to be a geart competitor of Samsung’s Exynos Octa-core and recently announced MediaTek octa-core MT6592 processor.
The company has included the quad-core variant of Odin chipset in the latest LG’s line-up of Smart TVs. On the other hand, octa-core variant is said to be used in LG’s next generation flagship devices. LG has reportedly given the chipset production responsibility to Taiwanese chiset maker TSMC.
