After several leaks and rumours, Huawei has officially announced the launch of its latest Windows Phone 8 powered smartphone, called Ascend W2 today. The Huawei Ascend W2 is apparently a successor of existing Ascend W1 that was showcased during CES-2013 exhibition earlier this year.
On the specification front, the new Huawei Ascend W2 features 4.3-inch super -sensitive capacitive touch screen display bearing WVGA resolution of 800 x 480 pixel. Apart from latest Windows Phone 8, the phone is powered by 1.4GHz dual-core 1.4 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8230 processor accompanied by 512MB RAM, 8GB internal memory and 1700 mAh battery with Huawei’s unique power-saving technology.
The phone has 5MP auto focus rear camera with 720p HD video recording and packs usual connectivity options such as 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, and aGPS. The phone has capacitive touch buttons with backlight similar to the color of the phone.
The Huawei Ascend W1 comes in several colours including Black, Blue, Red and Yellow colors, and as per the company, it would hit the stores in Russia and Netherlands first from November followed by other markets soon after. There is no word on the pricing of the phone at this point.
Huawei might be announcing the 3G version of Ascend W2 right now, but the Huawei Ascend W2 TD version and UMTS version is already on sale in Chinese market since August and October 2013 rspectively.
