Rumours of a mini version of Xperia Z1 have been around for a long time and Sony did introduce it as Xperia Z1 f but only for telecom operator NTT Docomo in Japan. Now, it turns out that this mini version will be heading to other markets as well, however with a new name.
According to prolific leaker evleaks, Sony’s mini version of Xperia Z1 for the international markets will be dubbed as Xperia Z1S and it will be released before the end of 2013. We are expecting a launch around December as the NTT Docomo variant Xperia Z1 f is also going on sale the same time.
Evleaks has also shared a press render of the device, which you can see above. There is no word on whether the specifications of Xperia Z1S will be same as Xperia Z1 f or not but we don’t expect them to be very different, if they are.
To remind you, Xperia Z1 f features a 4.3-inch 720p HD Triluminos display, Android 4.2, 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor and 2300 mAh battery. The phone also packs LTE support, NFC, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, 20.7MP rear camera with BSI and 2.2MP front camera.
