HTC, which is highly inclined to launch mid-range and flagship devices till now, is now looking forward to launch affordable smartphones in emerging markets including India, Indonesia and China. Talking to media at a press event in Kolkata, HTC country head Faisal Siddiqui revealed that the company will soon introduce affordable handsets priced below 10,000 in countries emerging countries like India, Indonesia and China where the sales of the smartphones under this price range are on peak.
Siddiqui, however didn’t reveal any details related to specifications and exact availability of these smartphones, but hinted that the smartphones will be released soon, may be by the end of this year.
HTC, which is expected to announce it first phablet One Max this month, is targeting mid-range segment by its Desire series of smartphones. The company is currently offering 11 smartphones between 12,000 and 51,000.
The company has also started providing Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update which is currently available for Butterfly, One X and One X+ users in India. The company is expected to release the same for other smartphones too. According to Siddiqui, the company is in the process of expanding its distribution centers as well as service service in India to strengthen its foothold.
