As speculated, Sony has started selling a new mid-range dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) Android smartphone, called Xperia C in India starting today. Priced at 20,490, the smartphone is now available for purchase from multiple online retailers including Saholic as well as company’s authorized outlets across the country.
Originally announced in June, Sony Xperia C boasts 5-inch qHD display with 960 x 540 pixel resolutions, and comes powered by 1.2Ghz quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. It runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean platform and packs 4GB on-board storage, 8MP rear camera, FM radio and 32GB microSD support.
The phone is just 8.88mm thick and weighs 153 grams. It includes a LED notification light below the display, 2390mAh battery and usual connectivity options like 3G, Wi-Fi, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS.
Available in Black, White and Purple color variants, the Xperia C is shipped with a free Sony MDR-ZX100A headset worth 1,490 as well as with accidental damage cover for a limited period. The retailer is expected to start shipping beginning October 10th this month.
With the release of Xperia C, Sony seems to be targeting Samsung’s Galaxy Grand, HTC Desire 600, Micromax’s Canvas series and various budget phablets from local vendors that have flooded the market in the recent months.
