Yesterday, as soon as BlackBerry revealed the launch plan of BBM for Android, Micromax came forward and announced that the upcoming Canvas series smartphone will come pre-loaded with BlackBerry Messaging service starting first week of October next month. The existing Canvas users can also download the BBM app for free from Google Play once it goes live on September 21.

In the official press release, Micromax’s CEO Deepak Mehrotra said:

We have built a strong mobile ecosystem for our users, which not only drives them to buy our products, but also builds a connection with the brand by massifying and democratizing technology in India. Bringing one of the most popular mobile messaging services with BBM on our smartphones is yet another effort to expand our bouquet of messaging services for our consumers to connect and communicate seamlessly with their loved ones.

The news may excite the users who are dying to enjoy the BBM on their Android smartphones, but it will just increase the amount of bloatware and consume the resources on the smartphones for the consumers who don’t want BBM. We didn,t understand what’s the meaning to pre-install the BBM on Canvas smartphones when it’s going to be available for free and for all. Micromax should let it be optional for its smartphone users.
