After several rumours and speculations, BlackBerry has today finally announced that the BBM messaging app for Android will be launched on September 21, and will be available for download at Google Play store starting the same day.

BBM for All

In the official press release, BlackBerry has clearly mentioned that BBM for Android will be available absolutely free for all, and will not be exclusively limited to particular vendors as Samsung Nigeria claimed earlier in tweet. As per the company, BBM for Android will be compatible with any smartphone running on Android 4.0 and above.

Here is exactly what Andrew Bocking, Executive Vice President for BBM at BlackBerry has told in official press release:

BBM is a very engaging messaging service that is simple to use, easy to personalize and has an immediacy that is necessary for mobile communications. With more than a billion Android, iOS, and BlackBerry smartphones in the market, and no dominant mobile instant messaging platform, this is absolutely the right time to bring BBM to Android and iPhone customers.
