Sony Mobile has today officially announced the launch of its next flagship Xperia Z1 at a press event held in New Delhi today. At the launch event, Sony’s brand ambassador for Xperia Z1 Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif was also present. According to the company, the Xperia Z1 is priced at 44,990 in the Indian market, and will be available shortly in the country. The company has also initiated a scheme under which customers can buy the Xperia Z1 smartphone with on zero down-payment and 12 month EMI.
Originally announced on September 4 in Berlin, the flagship Sony Xperia Z1 is touted as the Sony’s answer to recently launched Samsung Galaxy Note 3, LG G2 and next generation Apple iPhone 5S.
In terms of specifications, Sony Xperia Z1 packs 5-inch full HD 1080p display, and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It’s powered by top of the line 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 3000 mAh battery and 16GB of on-board storage, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD card.
Along with the usual connectivity options, this water and dust-proof smartphone comes with 20.7MP primary camera and 2MP front camera. The 20 MP rear camera in the phone in the phone is supported by dedicated apps and improved image sensors which make it perfect for clicking pictures and recording videos. As per the company, the Xperia Z1 can also be paired with the upcoming Cyber-shot QX10 and QX100 lens cameras.
Apart from Xperia Z1, Sony also introduced a its SmartWatch 2 in the India market toady. As per the company, the smartwatch will be available carrying a price tag of 14,990 in the country starting October. Unlike the Galaxy Gear, the Sony’s smartwatch is compatible with all smartphones running on Android 4.0 and above.
