As per pre-determined schedule, Asus has finally announced the launch of next generation PadFone Infinity at a press event held in Taipei today. According to the company, the device is priced at NT$18,990 ($640) in Taiwan, while the tablet dock will cost NT$7,000 ($240). However there is still no word on the exact availability, but the device is expected to hit the shelves in Q4 this year.
As far as the specifications of the new PadFone Infinity are concerned, it features almost similar specifications as that of existing PadFone Infinity including 5-inch full HD Super IPS display, 2GB RAM, 13MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, and 2,400mAh battery.
However unlike its predecessor Asus has used 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for powering the new PadFone Infinity. The company has also provided a microSD card slot and a secondary microphone for noise cancellation in the smartphone.
The changes aren’t just limited to the internals; the company has also tweaked the overall design of Padfone Infinity with the new diamond cut on the metallic backside. The software has been given a facelift and now comes with a revamped camera app, which Asus calls PixelMaster. According to Asus, Pixelmaster combines multiple pixels to form a smaller but sharper 3MP image.
Like existing PadFone Infinity, the new PadFone Infinity also comes with a tablet dock, which includes a 10.1-inch display and 5,000mAh battery.
