After introducing its first two Android Jelly Bean powered tablets in Indian market, HP is now looking forward to release Slate 7 tablet in the country soon. In a talk with Tech2, Ketan Patel, Director Consumer Product Category, HP PPS India, said that the company is going to made Slate 7 available in India very soon, but he didn’t give the exact launch time frame.
Originally showcased and announced at MWC, Barcelona in February this year, HP Slate 7 comes with 7-inch display, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 1.6 GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal memory on-board.
If the report is indeed true, then we’ll see it competing in India with the likes of Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 311, Asus Memo Pad, Acer Iconia B1 and several budget tablets from home-grown manufacturers such as Karbonn, Lava and Micromax.
It is important to note here that HP recently reduced the price of Slate 7 in the United States, where it was originally launched for $169.99. It would be interesting to see if HP brings Slate 7 to India at the reduced price. Considering the impending launch of new Nexus tablet and the recent introduction of Kindle Fire HD in the country, it would be a wise move for the company to price Slate 7 aggressively.
