Mukesh Ambani owned Reliance Jio Infocomm has signed a partnership deal of worth 12,000 crore with Anil Ambani owned Reliance Communications (RCom) for sharing of RCOM’s nationwide telecom towers infrastructure to start 4G network service in the country which is expected to be launched next year.
This partnership deal will enable Reliance Jio Infocomm to use up to 45,000 ground and rooftop based towers across RCOM’s nationwide network for its 4G network service. The agreement also deals with joint working arrangements to configure the scope of additional towers to be built at new locations to ensure deep penetration and seamless delivery of next generation services.
Reliance Jio Infocomm is the only company to have bought pan-Indian spectrum for 4G in 2010, is yet to start commercial services. The company is now looking to hire nearly 10,000 professionals nationally over the next year in order to provide quality 4G service in the country.
This is the 2nd commercial tie-up between the Ambani brothers after a deal that allowed Reliance Jio Infocomm to use Reliance Communications’ optic fibre network in the country.
