After announcing Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, Samsung has today officially announced the launch of much awaited rugged version of flagship Galaxy S4 in the form of Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. It is a water-proof and dust-resistant smartphone which can withstand in water up to 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter. As per the company, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active will hit the stores this summer and will be available first in US and Sweden followed by other countries.
In terms of specifications, Samsung Galaxy S4 Active sports 5-inch Full HD TFT LCD screen display and packs 1.9GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB RAM and 2600 mAh battery. It runs on latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean platform and has 8MP rear camera along with usual set of connectivity features.
According to Samsung, the phone also comes pre-loaded with all the software customizations that are available in Galaxy S4 along with a new Aqua Mode in camera app, which can be used to increase visual quality and clarity for enhanced underwater images and videos.

Samsung has taken the innovative features of the GALAXY S4 and added breakthrough protective design elements to create a device that thrives in an active environment and is built for a lifestyle of travel and exploration.
The volume key located on the side of the device can be used as a camera key, allowing users to easily and quickly open the camera application to capture photo and video the moment it happens. Additionally, the camera transforms into a powerful LED flash light to assist in low-light and nighttime activities with a simple long press of the volume key.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active will be available in multiple colour options including Urban Grey, Dive Blue and Orange Flare. There is no word on pricing yet.
