SAN FRANCISCO: Apple very much depends on Taiwanese electronics company Foxconn to build and supply its gadgets. Now Apple is collaborating with another Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Pegatron to assemble an economic version of its iconic product iPhone.
The California-based Apple began taking services of Pegatron since 2011 to produce some iPhones and last year iPad Mini. The current Apple CEO Tim Cook is employing Pegatron to ease Apple’s dependence on Foxconn alone.
The other prominent reason is Pegatron accepted to work with Apple for smaller profits. The cutthroat competition from other rivals like Samsung, HTC and Nokia has prompted Apple to introduce economic version of iPhone similar to iPad Mini.
