Along with the announcement of QWERTY keypad equipped BlackBerry Q5 at BlackBerry Live Conference in Orlando, the company’s President & CEO, Thorston Heins revealed that the company has planned to make its highly popular BlackBerry Messenger available for other platform including Android and iOS too in coming months.

BBM Chat for Android and iOS

As per the company, the BBM app for Android as well iOS will be available for free at respective stores and will be compatible with all devices running on either iOS 6 or Android 4.0 ICS and above.

BBM, BlackBerry own Messaging service which was available only for BlackBerry devices until now, is currently facing great challenges from other free messaging service like WhatsApp which is broadly available for Android and iOS devices. According to the company, they will be bringing full featured BBM experience to all the platforms and hopes it will offer the service more broadly without losing its own customers.
