Expanding its Xperia portfolio, Sony has announced the launch of yet another Android-based rugged smartphone today. Dubbed as Sony Xperia ZR, the smartphone is dust-resistant as well as water-resistant. As per the company, it’s IP55 and IP58 compliant device and one can keep it submerged in 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes.

Sony Xperia ZR comes featured with 4.6-inch 720p HD Reality display and is powered by Android 4.1 backed by 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor and 2GB RAM. It also packs 13-megapixel rear camera with HDR, VGA front camera, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, DLNA, aGPS NFC and LTE connectivity. It has 8 GB of internal memory on-board which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.
As per the company, Sony Xperia ZR Xperia ZR will be released in global markets this quarter although the exact release dates may vary region-wise.
