Today’s (April 16, 2013) Google Doodle is India’s first passenger train. Google honors the milestone that India achieved 160 years back by driving its first passenger train in the history of Indian railways.
Google India’s homepage shows a steam locomotive railway engine which forms the second letter of GOOGLE.
Exactly 160 year back, on April 16, 1853, the first Indian passenger train service was started between Bori Bunder in Bombay (now Mumbai) and Thane. The 34 km journey took 57 minutes and had one halt. It carried 400 invited passengers in 14 bogies accompanied by three locomotives, Sahib, Sindh, and Sultan.
