Lava Iris 501, that was launched in early January this year with Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich OS out of the box, is now receiving Android v4.1 Jelly Bean update via authorized service centers across the country. The company has notified Iris 501 users via its official Facebook page where it has posted the picture of the device with Jelly Bean update notification. Since the update is only available at company’s authorized service centers, you will have to go there to get your phone updated. You can find the location of Lava service center in your city by clicking here.
Like Jelly Bean update in other smartphones, Android v4.1 Jelly Bean update in Iris 501 also brings several improvements, performance fixes and goodies over existing Android 4.0. The update has added Google Now support, enhanced notifications, UI changes and Project Butter improvements in Iris 501.
It appears that now the indigenous phone makers are following the footsteps of global manufacturers like Samsung, Sony etc., and concentrating their attention to provide latest OS updates and better phone experience to their users, which is very important to stay long in market. Just few days ago, Micromax and Salora, both home grown companies, have also released Android Jelly Bean update for their Android smartphones, which are available via their authorized service centers.
Originally announced in January this year, Lava Iris 501 packs 5-inch (480 × 800 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, 1GHz dual-core MediaTek processor, dual-SIM support, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, 5MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera and 2300 mAh battery. It is available in Flipkart for 7,999.
