The tech giant Microsoft is reportedly busy in developing a new line up of Surface tablets including 7-inch version. According to the Wall Street Journal, the source familiar with the company’s plan has indicated that the company is speculated to start manufacturing 7-inch surface tablet later this year.
According to the publication, the company has decided to produce 7-inch surafce tablet after realizing they needed to keep pace with the growing popularity of smaller tablets like Google Inc’s 7-inch Nexus and the 7.9-inch iPad Mini introduced by Apple Inc last October.
Research firm IDC reports that the half of the tablet computers shipped in the fourth quarter were smaller than 8 inches. In the first three month of 2013, sales of PCs also fell by double-digit percentages. It appears that the company is now trying to make their solid appearance in global tablet markets where the devices with 7-inches display from the makers like Apple, Samsung, and Sony etc. are booming.
