BRUSSELS: Google had to face yesterday the blame of several internet giants at European Commission that it is using the Android platform to deliberately force users to use its services like Gmail, YouTube and Maps. The group that was led by Microsoft also included Oracle, Nokia, TripAdvisor, Expedia etc. The group comprises of 17 tech companies that are demanding European Commission to look into the matter.
Android has appeared as the most dominating operating system for mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. Google is taking the advantage and forcing the Android users to use its own products which is demoting the innovative competition in the areas, blamed the group.
Thomas Vinje of Brussels-based FairSearch said :
We are asking the Commission to move quickly and decisively to protect competition and innovation in this critical market. Failure to act will only embolden Google to repeat its desktop abuses of dominance as consumers increasingly turn to a mobile platform dominated by Google’s Android operating system.
