Sony has officially announced the launch of lightning plug equipped clock radio dock for iPhone and new iPod in Japan. This is not the first time that company has launched the clock radio dock. The company holdw a brilliant record of launching various forms of clock radios in the past. For instance, ICF-C218/B, Entry Clock Radio with Green LED Display, which is available in India for INR Rs.1,490, and SRS-GC11IP, which is built for providing simple functions without supporting advanced specs such as Wi-Fi connectivity or Bluetooth.

Listed as “Coming soon”, the clock radio dock having the model number SRS-GC11IP has been spotted at the Sony’s website of Japan. The SRS-GC11IP includes a clock, a AM and FM radio and a sleep timer and more impotently a 0.8W speaker. Users can mount their lighting-ready iDevice and play tunes straight from the device. The dock also comes with a a remote, so you don’t have to walk up to the device, each time, you feel like changing the music.

As per the sources, the announced peripheral from Sony is expected to be arrive from April 18th onwards for a price of ¥6,980 (approx. US $71). There is still no word if it will make its way anywhere outside of Japan at this point.
