Samsung Display, which is currently facing a great challenges from the manufacturers of 39-inch panels such as Innolux Corporation and AU Optronics (AUO), has reportedly reduces the pricing for its highly popular 40-inch TV panels in Chinese market. The 40-inch TV panel which was initially being sold at US$155-$160, will now expected to be available at the same price of 39-inch display units.
According to the industry sources, 39-inch panels made by Innolux are highly popular in Chinese markets and the Chinese consumers are too highly inclined and preferring them over existing 37-, 40- and 42-inch displays. The popularity of the Innolux’s 39-inch display can be understood with the fact that it has shipped more than one million 39-inch TV panels a month to China-based TV vendors alone.
In related news, Samsung has also done a large investment in Sharp which is expected to give Samsung stable supply of 40-inch TV panels in order to stay competitive against the 39-inch units in Chinese market.
