Nvidia, the American chipmaker company has announced the launch of its latest GeForce 700M series of GPU especially designed for netbooks. As per the company, the GeForce 700M series of GPU is more powerful and power efficient than its predecessor and includes Optimus technology from its earlier versions that switches off the GPU to transferred load on to the on-board graphics to save power, when the laptop is used for regular tasks such as word processing, internet surfing, or playing music. The GPU comes in action again when it senses the requirement.
Apart from these features, the announced GPU is also powered by many new innovative technologies including GPU Boost 2.0 and GeForce Experience software. The GPU Boost 2.0 technology incorporated iin the GPU automatically and smartly adjusts the GPU’s clock speed to maximize the performance, with up to 6.5% faster results than at stock speed. GeForce Experience feature of the GPU also automatically changes game settings to ensure that the user gets the best combination of visual quality and performance on account of system configuration. The best thing is that all of the above happens automatically and intelligently, without explicit user intervention.
According to Nvidia, the 700M GPU Series will include five different GPUs covering various price and performance segments. While GeForce GT 720M and GeForce GT 735M is especially designed for mainstream users, GeForce GT 740M, GeForce GT 745M, and GeForce GT 750M will come under the performance segment. Major laptop makers including Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, MSI, Samsung, Sony, and Toshiba are expected to soon start incorporating these in their upcoming models.
