Google’s most ambitious product called Google Glass will be manufactured in USA at California by Taiwan-based electronics company Foxconn. The news is not yet public and is not officially announced by Google as reported by Financial Times and Bloomberg. Official spokespersons of Google and Foxconn declined to comment on the new development.
Google Co-Founder Sergey Brin recently demonstrated Project Glass to a number of tech-enthusiasts. The digital product was demonstrated as as an adventurous eyeware. The demonstration featured live video footage of skydivers, pilots and cyclists
Foxconn is based in Tucheng District, New Taipei, Taiwan and is the world’s largest manufacturer of electronics on contract basis. It is the main supplier of Apple’s products like iPhone, iPad, iPod etc. Manufacturing Google Glass will make Foxconn more versatile and less dependent on Apple. Currently, 40% of Foxconn’s revenue comes from Apple.
Brin expects the product to be publicaly available by 2014.
