It appears that the Asus FonePad, which was launched during MWC exhibition last month in Barcelona, is going to hit the stores soon in Taiwan. The company has put this 7-inch tablet on pre-order in Taiwan, and shipping is expected to start from end of the March.

As you know, Asus FonePad comes with 7-inch IPS display with 1280x800p resolution and runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 1.2 GHz Intel Atom Z2420 processor, 1GB RAM, 8/16GB internal memory and 4270 mAh battery. Apart from microSD card slot and 3G connectivity, it also features voice calling support.

On the imaging front, Asus FonePad includes 3MP rear camera and 1.2MP front camera.

In Taiwan, the tablet is being sold at NT $8,900 (approx. $302) for the 16GB model. To sell the tablet on contract, Asus has partnered with Chunghwa Telecom which is retailing the tablet at a subsidized price along with two-year contract with monthly plans beginning NT $1,343 (approx. $45.07).

According to Asus, in Taiwan, the FonePad will be available at Tsann Kuen Enterprise Co, E-Life Mall Corp, Sunfair Computer Co retail stores as well as Yahoo & PChome online stores.

There is still no official word regarding its availability and prices outside the Taiwan.
