We all love torrents. It helps us to share and download our files all over the internet through P2P connection. Ethically, if you are downloading some torrents then you should seed and share them with others. Torrents are all about sharing and you should seed to keep alive torrents. However, if you have slow bandwidth, then too much seeding and uploading can hurt your internet speed for other activities like browsing. So, at these situations, we need only to download and stop upload.
uTorrent is the most used Torrent client. In this tutorial, I’ll tell you how to attain maximum download speed and minimum upload speed in uTorrent.
Keeping in mind the above caution, let’s begin our tutorial which is very easy. I have put screenshots of my own uTorrent settings for easy understanding.
Start uTorrent and go to : Options -> Preferences
In Preferences window, click Bandwidth in right side. You have to do four things here.
- Set the Maximum upload rate value to 1.
- Tick the Alternate upload rate when not downloading option.
- Set the Alternate upload rate when not downloading value to 1.
- Remove tick mark from Use additional upload slots if upload speed < 90% option.
Now in Preferences window, click Queueing in right side. You have to do two things here.
- Tick the Limit the upload rate to option.
- Set the Limit the upload rate to value to 1.
After all these settings click OK.
Here is one last thing you have to do. If you have some torrents currently in your list. Right click on a torrent. Then go to Bandwidth Allocation -> Set Upload Limit -> 1 kB/s.
Do this for each torrent currently in your list. Now onwards, whenever you add a new torrent, do this Bandwidth Allocation.
