Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is planning to launch a full-fledged mobile app for its commuters around the capital. For the purpose, DMRC has issued a tender for which final date of submission is set to March 28.
As per the corporation official, the application will provide various and almost all kind of information related to DMRC including fare between stations, nearest metro station, timings of last and first train at various stations, travel time, route information, metro map and parking availability on the station premises. If you’re new in the capital, the app will help you to find landmarks and tourist spots around the metro stations, get information about feeder services and helpline numbers in the city. The application is supposed to work offline without Internet/GPRS connectivity.
Depending on your smartphone and services, the app will show you your current location in the city by means of GPS and will suggest a shortest route to the destination. The app is also said to have a graphical representation of Metro Map which will enable the user to pan in, zoom in and out, and displays their current location on metro route map of the capital.
Apart from these, the app will be preloaded with Helpline numbers for assistance, suggestion, complaint, and feedback and security helpline numbers to be contacted during emergency or security threat etc.
There is no word on the exact time frame regarding the launch of the app yet, but we expect to see it in 2nd half this year.
