Sony India has revealed that the company is now expecting Xperia sale of worth 250 crore in Andhra Pradesh during 2013-14. The company is also looking forward to secure the position among the top three smartphone brands in the country after Samsung and Nokia. The company has just launched its flagship Xperia Z for Andhra Pradesh.
At the launch event, Sony India Mobile Division Head (Sales and Marketing) Sachin Thapar said:
We are very serious about Xperia… our objective is to be one of the top three smartphone company. Andhra Pradesh is expected to contribute seven per cent to the overall Xperia sales in India and the company plans to increase channel coverage from 350 to 550 outlets. We want to be the real challenger and be one of the strong contenders and plan to establish within the top three of the smartphone segment. It is start of the journey to triple the Xperia sales in India to Rs 3,500 crore in FY 13.
As per the company, Sony Xperia Tablet Z, which is touted as the world’s slimmest LTE table featuring a 10.1 HD Reality Display, is coming to India in the first week of May. To remind, Sony Xperia Tablet features Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm APQ8064 processor, 2GB RAM, 16 GB storage, LTE support, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 60000 mAh battery alongside water- The tablet is said to be water-resistant (IPX5/7) and has dust proof (IP5X) durable display.
