For uploading important core files to TechPuffs server, I use FileZilla FTP Client. I have my own reasons to use this ftp client. Number one – it is free and open source software that anyone can use and number two – it is very easy to use this software with drag and drop options.

While FileZilla is easy to use, I recently encountered a problem. Most of the time all files upload correctly but sometimes I found that FileZilla auto removes line breaks especially from PHP files.

Sometimes removing line breaks doesn’t create problem. But most of the time the file becomes problematic, especially if it has comments (//), thus making the whole script unexecutable and syntax-errored. Also, if there is everything in a single line then file becomes hard to read.

I found a solution to this problem. Here is the solution. In the file transfer setting in FileZilla, you have to use Binary in stead of Auto or ASCII. The default setting is Auto.

If you are using FileZilla 2 then go to :
Edit -> Settings -> File transfer settings
Set it to Binary and Click OK.

If you are using FileZilla 3 then go to :
Edit -> Settings -> Transfers -> File Types
Set it to Binary and Click OK.

Here is the screenshot of my FileZilla settings. I am using FileZilla FTP Client 3.6.0.2.

The above setting will prevent FileZilla from auto-removing line breaks. Did it solve the problem? Let me know in comments section.
