The Indian Ghazal Maestro Padma Bhushan Jagjit Singh was remembered by Google on his 72th Birthday (February 8, 2013). The search engine giant on its homepage displayed the following Doodle in his honor.
Jagjit Singh was born to Sikh couple Amar Singh and Bachan Kaur on February 8, 1941 at Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, India. He died at the age of 70 years on October 10, 2011.

In his lifetime, Jagjit spread his ghazals in India and abroad and got overwhelming response. He also portrayed his voice as a playback singer in several Bollywood movies. He is remembered for his several outstanding soft ghazals like Woh Kaagaz Ki Kashti, Chitthi Na Koi Sandesh, Tumko Dekha Toh Yeh Khayaal, Tum Itna Jo Muskura Rahe Ho etc.
