Micromax has announced the launch of its first quad-core processor powered smartphone in India. Dubbed as Micromax A116 Canvas HD, it has 5-inch (1280x720p) HD IPS display and runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean platform.
Micromax A116 Canvas HD comes integrated with 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor coupled with 1GB RAM. It has a monster 8MP rear camera with LED Flash, VGA front-facing camera, 4GB internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 32GB. It is powered by a long lasting 2100 mAh battery. Connectivity features of the smartphone include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS/A-GPS.
At the launch, the native manufacturer revealed that it is the market leader in phablets category in the country with over 198.1K shipments in the last three months and also the latest buyer of MediaTek chipsets worldwide. Company also stated that it plans to launch 30 smartphones this year and considering company’s record until now, all of them will be running Android.

As per the company, Micromax A116 Canvas HD will hit the stores in
first week of February 2013 with a price tag under 15,000.
