Nokia has revealed that it has sold over 4.4 millions units of Lumia smartphone and 9.3 millions units of Asha range of feature phones in Q4, 2012. It also stated that the company has shipped total 86.2 millions units of Nokia device, out of which 6.6 million are smartphones.
Revealing the information, Nokia’s CEO Stephen Elop said:
We are pleased that Q4 2012 was a solid quarter where we exceeded expectations and delivered underlying profitability in Devices & Services and record underlying profitability in Nokia Siemens Networks. We focused on our priorities and as a result we sold a total of 14 million Asha smartphones and Lumia smartphones while managing our costs efficiently, and Nokia Siemens Networks delivered yet another very good quarter.
He also added :
The 4,4 million Lumias sold does not give us a clear indication of how many Windows Phone were sold in Q4 2012, but I think above 6 million is a safe bet given that many of the phones sold were old inventory from early quarters.
As per the statistics of Q3, Nokia was shipped just 2.9 million of Lumia smartphones and it’s of course a satisfactory improvement that will help Nokia to regain its top spot in Mobile brand list. For those who’re not aware, Nokia has lost its top position in Mobile brand list in 2012 that is now ruled by Samsung. The company will publish full result about the shipments of Q4, 2012 on January 24th, 2013.
