At the launch, Sanjay Kapoor, CEO, India & South Asia, Bharti Airtel said :

Over the last 15 years, Airtel has been at the forefront of India’s telecom revolution and played an instrumental role in aligning the country’s technology trends with the latest standards from across the
globe. We are excited to announce the launch of India’s first 4G LTE TDD multimode mobile device along with Qualcomm and Huawei.

It [4G services] is taking time to ramp up. But it definitely has a wow offer. Right now we are able to offer 40 Mbps of download and 20 MBps of upload speed. The icing on the cake is that the customer pays us around $20 ARPU.

Powered by Android 4.0 ICS , the front panel of Huawei Ascend P1 LTE is dominated by a 960X540 pixels resolution 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD touchscreen display made up with Gorilla glass coating. For seamless performance, this 4G smartphone has been fully armed with a faster 1.5GHZ dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor along with a immense 1GB RAM and 4GB internal media storage. Apart from these, the smartphone also includes 8MP primary camera with dual LED flash support, microSD card slot and comes bundled with a massive 1,800 mAh battery. In terms of connectivity features, the smartphone supports Wi-Fi connectivity and for data transferring, it features microUSB and Bluetooth.

According to the company, the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE uses Circuit Switched Voice Fall Back (CSFB voice) technology by which it offers 4G high speed wireless data on the LTE network and voice call on the 3G network. Since currently 4G network is only available in Kolkata, rest of the users won’t be able to use 4G on the smartphone but for time being they can access 3G network instead. However the price of the smartphone is not clear yet but predictions are it will be around INR Rs.30,000.

Just few days back, Huawei in association with Spice has also launched a new entry level smartphone named S Huawei Ascend Y100 in India priced at INR Rs.5,990.
