Micromax, primarily known for making mobile handset and affordable Android tablets, has now jumped also in consumer electronics arena by launching a range of new LED TVs starting INR Rs.15,990 in Indian market which is mainly dominated by Samsung, Sony and LG.

Commenting on the company’s this move, Rajesh Agarwal, Micromax Managing Director and Co-founder, said :

Televisions is a natural progression. As consumers evolve, they want their devices and experience to be smart and personal. We aim to partner the growing aspirations of the digital consumers at all levels.

In the next one year, we are looking at sales of one lakh units (TVs)…In the next two years, the aim would be to increase the TV segment contribution to 20 percent of the revenues.

At the launch, Micromax showcased six LED TV models ranging from 24-inch to 55-inch and priced competitively between INR Rs.15,990 and INR Rs.1,29,990. Take a look at the launched Micromax LED TV models and their prices :

These all six models are said to have High Definition Media Interface, which supports all video resolution. According to the Micromax, these products would be initially available in nine states including Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Rajasthan and then gradually be launched in remaining states of the country. The production of these models would be done in Rudrapur, Uttrakhand, where Micromax has owned and set up 1 lakh sq. ft. of manufacturing facility spread over 5 acres, with a production capacity of 2,000 LED TV units per day. Micromax is also looking to double up the production of its Funbook series tablet PCs and other mobile accessories at this facility, which have received tremendous customer response in last 2-3 months.
